Explanation:
Tisquantum was a member of the Patuxet tribe which lived on what is now called Cape Cod. He was captured in 1614, taken to Spain, and sold as a slave. He escaped and returned to Cape Cod only to find that his entire tribe had been wiped out by an infectious disease.
When the Mayflower arrived in 1621, Tisquantum acted as an intermediary between the Europeans and the local Pokanoket tribe, mostly because he spoke English. He died of a fever while guiding an English expedition along the coast of Massachusetts.
