Why do hydroelectric dams have limited lifetimes?

After abut 100 years the cement concrete will loose its properties and will become weak.
Explanation:
The reservoir will get filled by Mud, sand and other things due to water flow from the catchment area.
SO it is safe to dewater it and remove the structure..An accident will wash out huge areas of land, kill thousands of people in the lower area.
