Would it be possible for Socratic to support LaTeX in addition to the math formatter that is already included?
I understand that people find LaTeX unintuitive, difficult to use, and "bad for learning" (as noted in this blog post) etc. However, it is just so much more powerful and allows you to do stuff that one can only use hacks with the current math formatter, sometimes not with the exact effects one wants.
So, I was wondering, would it be possible for Socratic to support LaTeX? Maybe have hashtags for those who are uncomfortable with LaTeX and \( \) notation for those who prefer LaTeX more?

It seems that Socratic currently supports \ \ [ x\equiv 2\pmod{3} \ \ ] (remove the spaces between the slashes and brackets to get \[x\equiv 2\pmod{3}\]) for pure LaTeX, but not the complete set of full features... at least not the ones I'm looking for.

... that's not going to happen anytime soon.
I've already talked about this in several posts--for example, see this answer--so I won't go into details again.
The idea is that the team won't bring any new features to the website in the near future. In other words, the Socratic app will continue to be the team's top priority, at least for the foreseeable future.
So yes, it would be possible to add full LaTeX support--I say "full" because, as you've noticed, there are a number of LaTeX features that are supported--but not in the near future.
Long story short, when it comes to features, we're stuck with what we have now.
