Explanation:
as far as i know that in fehling solution ion is in +2 oxidation state . it gets reduced to +1 thus it oxidises the aldehyde to acid .
the oxygen(-1) is in resonance with double bonded oxygen.
copper valency is full but it will surely oxidise the complex as all cu+2 don't form complex . (about 0.01%)
yes the test holds true because the reaction completes to 99.99% . so no doubt of the test failing.
REMEMBER THIS TEST IS MAINLY FOR SUGARS AND ALDEHYDES
if u oxidise aromatic aldehyde then there are chances of the compound loosing its aromaticity so aromatic compounds don't generally give fehling solution test
