Like the biography of a person, we need a time scale for understanding the different processes that surround us. the geologic time scale was developed to understand how and when the earth was created and how it become the topography and landscape as it is today. we also need it because we need to understand what forces were present in early years of earth and which forces are driving the evolution of life
