The pH scale ranges from 1-14. The pH number tells how acid or alkaline a substance is. Also whether the substance is neutral. Substances with a pH ranging from 1-6 are acidic with 1 being a strong acid and 6 being a weak acid. Alkalis range from 8-14, with 8 being a weak alkali and 14 being a strong alkali. Substances with a pH of 7 are neutral.
