# sp^2 # orbitals are formed in such a way that the final geometry of a certain molecule, whose central atom has an #sp^2# hybridization acquires a Trigonal planar shape.

Explanation:

The three orbitals formed will all be in the same plane and spaced equally apart with # 120^o# angles.

This atomic structure is called trigonal planar. For knowledge, the distribution of the orbitals in order to facilitate minimum inter-repulsions is also trigonal planar.
An example would be # AlBr_3#.
