How do you order the numbers 7.324, 6.9, 6.97, 6.9071 from least to greatest?
1 Answer
Explanation:
What I do when I am putting things in order when the number of decimals on each number is not the same is that I add 0. I find the number with the most number to decimal places. in this case, it is 6.9071. This number has 4 decimal places.
I then add decimal places to all of the other by placing a 0 after all the other decimals.
7.3240
6.9000
6.9700
This make us able to see what the highest decimal place inorder to rank them from highest to lowest.
We first look at the one's place. Three numbers have 6. Then we look at the tenths place in the decimals and also three number have the 9. When we look at the hundredths place, only 6.9 has the lowest number
Then we look at the others and in the hundredth place, only one other one has 6.90 and that is 6.9071 which makes that the next lowest
Then we see that the hundreds place also has the next lowest number in the hundred place is 6.97
This leads us to our highest number of 7.324 left
Therefore the order from lowest to highest is 6.9, 6.9071, 6.97 and 7.324
