Virus's, just like bacteria, can be transmitted simply by a human coughing or sneezing on another human. However, virus's add another aspect to transmission. Simply touching someone who has a cold can transmit a virus. One can also obtain a virus by any of the following:

1. Direct Contact

2. Contaminated Objects (such as household appliances).

3. Inhalation (you breath in all sorts of microorganisms without even knowing it).

It's also very important to remember that a virus is simply looking for an active living organism so it can reproduce and thrive. That is why they are very easy to come in contact with.
