What is the slope of the line that passes through #(-4, -4), (2, -2)#?

Slope = #\frac{\Delta y}{\Delta x}#

(#\Delta#= "change in", as in "change in the x direction")

#=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}#

x1 is the leftmost point, x2 is the other one, and y1/y2 are the associated y coordinates. Also, if you don't know, a point (A,B) is given in the form (x-coordinate, y-coordinate)

#\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}=\frac{(-2)-(-4)}{(2)-(-4)}=\frac{2}{6}=\frac{1}{3}#

So the slope of this line is #1/3#

Just so you know, the actual line that goes through these points is
#y=1/3 x -8/3#
