Explanation:
The Olympics started around 776 B.C. in honor of the Greek gods and also as a test of strength. However the games were later banned. Then in 1896 the games were reopened starting the first international Olympic games.
The original Olympics banned women from competing, but during the second international Olympics women started to compete. Today the Olympics are held every two years, alternating between the winter and summer sports.
