Two main causes could be head trauma, or inherited genetics.

Explanation:

Some physical disabilities happen when you are in the womb. You may have inherited a gene from a relative where you will get their disability. Your mother may also do things she is recommended not to when pregnant, like smoke, do drugs, or drink.

Another reason you may have a disability is because you have a serious illness affecting the brain, nerves or muscles, such as meningitis. This can cause many issues that lead to disabilities.

Brain trauma is another way to get a physical disability. If you are hit very hard in the head, particularly somewhere sensitive, you are at risk of losing some of your normal functions. For example, you may get a stutter after the worst has healed, or you may have short-term memory loss. Worst comes to worst, it may make you have seizures or strokes regularly that has to be monitored by medicine and more.

You can also get a physical disability from a spinal injury. If you have a strong enough force hit your spine and spinal cord, you are at high risk of being paralyzed. You may only be paralyzed from the waist down or you may be paralyzed from the neck down. It all depends on where you are hit.

As well, sometimes our bones do not grow normally, this is a bone or joint deformity. These are bones that are shaped weird or haven't grow to their actual size.

Those are some of the main things that can happen to give us a physical disability.
