Alright, here we are just going to simply add/subtract like terms.

=color(blue)(4x)color(red)(+2y)+8-3color(red)(-y)color(blue)(-x)

So we have two x variables, two y variables, and 2 numerical values. We just need to add all these together separately.

Add the x values: color(blue)(4x-x =3x)

=color(blue)(3x)+2y+8-3-y

Add the y values: color(red)(2y-y=y)

=3x color(red)(+y)+8-3

And finally add the numerical values: color(green)(+8-3 = 5)

=3x+y color(green)(+5)
