Explanation:
The aufbau principle states that in the ground state of an atom or ion, electrons fill atomic orbitals of the lowest available energy levels before occupying higher levels.
The electronic configuration of silicon is an example of this, because the orbitals are filled from lowest energy to higher energy.
i.e. 1s < 2s < 2p < 3s < 3p
3p is the highest energy orbital and we can see that all of the lower energy orbitals have completely filled before it is occupied by the remaining two electrons.
