I drew a picture of a cube and a picture of a long, skinny, rectangular prism.

If the cube is 2in. x 2in. x 2in., it's surface area is 62in.2=12in.2
Its volume is 8in.3

If the prism is 7in. x 1in. x 1in., its surface area is (2(1)+4(7))in.2 or (2+28)in.2= 30in.2

The volume of the thin prism is just 1 x 1 x 7in.3,
or 7in.3

The volume of the second figure is much smaller than that of the first, but its surface area is obviously larger.

Second question: A box with the measurements 2 in. x 4in. x3in. has a volume of 24 in.3, as does a box that is
6 in. x 1 in. x 4 in.
