In the 1950s, everything was segregated, including trains. There was this black man (Plessy) that wanted to get on a train car. The operators of the train said no. Mr. Plessy noticed that the white section of the train was empty. They didn't let him in, because the black section was full. Mr. Plessy sued the train's owner (Ferguson). That case eventually went all the way to the Supreme Court. Mr. Ferguson won that case.
