Arteries are part of the circulatory system, which delivers oxygen and types of nutrients to the body. The role of arteries, is to carry blood away from the heart, and towards major organs and tissues. They also carry oxygen and nutrients to smaller tubes that are called arterioles, which then deliver the oxygen and nutrients to even smaller tubes called capillaries.
