Explanation:
Every person, whether male or female, has chromosomes. For sex chromosomes, females have X and X, and males have X and Y. When the sperm cell and egg cell meet up, they each carry one sex chromosome. For a female, it has to be an X, where for a male, it could be an X, or a Y. Depending on what chromosome the male gives, that is the sex of the child.
