Since you do not have a volume expressed in your equation, I'll assume you mistyped it. The mass of the substance is expressed in grams, which can be used for density, but "cm"cm cannot be used since it represents a unit of length.

A proper unit for volume would be "cm"^3cm3, which would make your equation

rho = ("24 g")/("8 cm"^3) = "3 g/cm"^3ρ=24 g8 cm3=3 g/cm3
