Rules for fraction multiplication

The rules for multiplying fractions are as follows:

Change all mixed numbers to improper fractions.
Cancel (simplify) wherever possible with common factors - any numerator with any denominator as long as there are x signs between them

Simplify if necessary.

For example..

$2 1/4 xx 2 2/3 xx 5/12 xx 7/15$

$= 9/4 xx 8/3xx 5/12xx7/15$

$= cancel9^(cancel3)/cancel4 xx cancel8^(cancel2)/cancel3xx cancel5/cancel12^(cancel4 ^2)xx7/cancel15^3$

$= 7/(2xx3)$

$= 7/6$

$= 1 1/6$
