How are harmonics related to fundamental frequency?

Harmonics are allways whole-number multiples of the fundamental frequency.

Depending on the instrument, you can have all harmonics, or only the odd ones.

Example: in a string all harmonics are possible, because the ends of the string are fixed. See picture(wikipedia)
