You mean acyl halides? Just as they would react with anhydrides... How would they react with carboxylic acids? As bases or as nucleophiles?


The carbonyl carbon is electropositive... You should notice this trend in many carbonyl compounds.

The #"Cl"^(-)# is a good leaving group, as it is hardly a base... its conjugate acid is a strong acid, with #K_a ~~ 10^7#, making #"Cl"^(-)# thermodynamically stable.
