How do I convert f (x) = -2x^2 + 2x + 4f(x)=2x2+2x+4 to standard form ?

I understand how to complete the square, but this leaves me with (-2x + 4) (x+1). I thought I needed to have a perfect square ?

(y-9/2)= -2(x-1/2)^2(y92)=2(x12)2

Explanation:

Given f(x)= y= -2x^2 +2x+42x2+2x+4

= -2(x^2 -x) +42(x2x)+4

=-2(x^2 -x + 1/4 -1/4)+42(x2x+1414)+4

= -2(x^2 -x +1/4)+1/2 +42(x2x+14)+12+4

=-2(x-1/2)^2 +9/22(x12)2+92

y -9/2= -2(x-1/2)^2y92=2(x12)2, which is required standard form.
