How do you factor by grouping xy+6x+2y+12?

xy + 6x + 2y + 12

We factor this expression by making groups of 2 terms
= (xy + 6x) + (2y +12)

Now we take the common factors out from each group
= x( y + 6) + 2( y + 6)

( y + 6) is a common factor to each of the terms now:

= ( y + 6)(x + 2)
