f^-1(x) = 2x + 5

Explanation:

if you rewrite the equation as y = (x - 5 )/2

then to find the inverse function ie. what is x in term of y you just have to change the subject to x.

y = (x - 5 )/2 rArr x - 5 = 2y

and so x = 2y + 5

finally change the y back to x so that the function is a function of x.

rArr f^-1(x) = 2x + 5
