How do you know which x values to choose when creating a table of values for an absolute value equation?

I would start with the number that makes the expression inside the absolute value zero then choose a few `x`-values before and after that number; for example, if you have `y=|x-2|`, then I would use: `x=-1,0,1,2,3,4,5`.
