$m^3=m^(1+2)=m^1xxm^2=mxxm^2$

$=>m/m^3=cancel(m)/(cancel(m)xxm^2)= 1/m^2 =m^-2$

By considering that $m^3$ is nothing else than $m*m*m$

$m/m^3=m/(m*m*m)$

You can cancel the $m$ above against one of the $m$ 's below.
