How do you solve Cos^2 theta + sin theta = 1?

1 Answer

Remember that cos^2 theta+sin^2 theta=1 hence our given equation becomes

cos^2 theta+sintheta=1=>cos^2 theta+sintheta=cos^2 theta+sin^2theta=>sin^2theta-sintheta=0=>sintheta*(sintheta-1)=0

from the relationship sintheta*(sintheta-1)=0 we have that

sintheta=0=>theta=2*k*pi where k is an integer

and

sintheta=1=>theta=2m*pi+pi/2 where m is an integer
