You first get $log$ s on both sides.

Remember that $log10^5=5log10=5xx1=5$
So:
$log(4x-1)=log10^5$

We can now remove the $log$ s:
$->4x-1=10^5=100000$

Add $1$ to both sides:
$->4x=100001$

$->x=100001/4=25000 1/4or25000.25$
