tan thetatanθ=(-1+-isqrt3)/2−1±i√32

Write sec^2 theta = 1+tan^2 thetasec2θ=1+tan2θ, so that given equation becomes tan^2 theta +tan theta +1=0tan2θ+tanθ+1=0. Solving this for tan thetatanθ we would have tan theta = (-1+-sqrt(1-4))/2tanθ=−1±√1−42

=(-1+-isqrt3)/2−1±i√32
