$y = 2x + 10$ .....equation $(2)$

substituting equation $(1)$ in equation $(2)$
$y = 2x + 10$
$5x − 2 = 2x+10$
$3x = 12$
$x = 4$

substituting the value of $x$ in equation $(1)$ to find $y$ :
$y = 5x − 2$
$y = 5xx4 - 2$
$y = 18$
