Vertex form equation is $y = {(x + 1)}^{2} + 3$ $y=(x+1)^2 +3$

$y = x^{2} + 2 x + 4 = x^{2} + 2 x + 1 + 3$ $y = x^2 +2x+4 = x^2 +2x+1 +3$ or

$y = {(x + 1)}^{2} + 3$ $y=(x+1)^2 +3$ , comparing with standard vertex form equation

$y = a {(x - h)}^{2} + k; (h, k)$ $y=a(x-h)^2+k ; (h,k)$ being vertex , we get here
