Current is directly proportional to magnetic force for a straight current carrying conductor in a uniform magnetic field.
The relevant equation for the magnetic force acting on a straight current carrying conductor in a uniform magnetic field is:
So the force is directly proportional to the size of the current.
Practically this means the following:
- If the current is doubled the force on the conductor will double.
- If the current is is reduced to a third of the initial value the force will also reduce to a third of its initial value.
- If the current is increased by five times the force will also increase by five times.
