It's ability to see distant object without an obstructing atmosphere.
Explanation:
Earth bound telescopes must look through a thick atmosphere to peer into the universe. Our atmosphere filters out certain types of radiation attempting to enter our atmosphere, most notably gamma rays.
Above is a photograph of the Andromeda constellation as seen by the Mt. Wilson telescope.
This picture was taken by the Hubble telescope of Andromeda. A simple comparison of the two shows how much more detail Hubble offers over its earth bound cousin.
