$d/dx(sqrt(4+x^2))=x/(sqrt(x^2+4))$

Rewrite this as $(4+x^2)^(1/2)$ by properties of exponents.

Now use the chain rule to differentiate.

$=> (1/2)(4+x^2)^(-1/2)(2x)$

$=>x(4+x^2)^(-1/2)$
