The distance between $(4,4,2)$ and $(5,6,4)$ is $3$ units.

We know that in a two dimensional Cartesian plane, distance between points $(x_1,y_1)$ and $(x_2,y_2)$ is

$sqrt((x_2-x_1)^2+(y_2-y_1)^2)$

similarly in a three dimensional Cartesian space, distance between points $(x_1,y_1,z_1)$ and $(x_2,y_2,z_2)$ is

$sqrt((x_2-x_1)^2+(y_2-y_1)^2+(z_2-z_1)^2)$

Hence distance between $(4,4,2)$ and $(5,6,4)$ is

$sqrt((5-4)^2+(6-4)^2+(4-2)^2)$

= $sqrt(1+4+4)=sqrt9=3$
