What is the vertex form of y=-x^2 -3?

This is already in vertex form, it just doesn't look like it.
Vertex form is
y=a(x-h)^2+k
But here,
a=-1
h=0
k=-3
Which could be written as
y=-1(x-0)^2+(-3)
But, when simplified, it leaves
y=-x^2-3
Which means the parabola has a vertex at
graph{-x^2-3 [-13.82, 14.65, -12.04, 2.2]}
