Complete the square to find the vertex form.

$y+3=x^2-5x$

$y+3+25/4=x^2-5x+25/4$

$y+37/4=(x-5/2)^2$

$y=(x-5/2)^2-37/4$

The last equation is vertex form

vertex $=(5/2,-37/4)$
