How do you graph y=|x+4| by plotting points?

Pick x-values that put a negative inside the absolute value...

Like : (note how the x value changes... 8,6,4,2...You can choose the pattern of your choice...)

  • y=|8+4|=|4|=4(8,4)
  • y=|6+4|=|2|=2(6,2)
  • y=|4+4|=|0|=0(4,0)
  • y=|2+4|=|2|=2(2,2)
  • y=|0+4|=|4|=4(0,4)
  • y=|2+4|=|6|=6(2,6)
