You can get the exact values of these functions from the unit circle.

According to the unit circle;

cos( $pi/4$ ) = $sqrt(2)/"2"$

cos( $pi/4$ ) = $1/"2"$

Then you add both values together to get the exact value of the expression
( $sqrt(2)/"2"$ ) + ( $1/"2"$ ) = $(1+sqrt(2))/ ("2")$
