In order to get the value of bb, we have to move everything out of its way.

Explanation:

First of all, the 10.910.9 is getting in the way, so, we move it to the other side with a negative sign because everytime we move something from one side to the other we have to change its original sign.

So, it will look something like this:

4 b = 17 - 10.94b=1710.9

Now, we subtract:

4 b = 6.14b=6.1

The last thing left to do is move the 44, but, because it is multiplying bb, when we move it to the other side we have to divide it.

(Remember: every time you move something from one side of the equation to the other you have to write its opposite. However, when moving multiplications and divisions you leave the original sign)

Now we have:

(4b)/4 = 6.1/44b4=6.14

We divide it and that's it! The final answer is:

b = 1.525b=1.525

If you want to check your answer, just substitute 1.5251.525 in the original equation.

10.9+4(1.525)=1710.9+4(1.525)=17

17=1717=17
