$x_2 = -2.81$

$3x + 12/(x+4) = 5/3$

Multiply both sides by $3$ and $(x+4)$

$9x(x+4) + 36 = 5(x+4)$

Expand the brackets

$9x^2 + 36x +36 = 5x + 20$

Collect all like terms

$9x^2 + 31x + 16 = 0$

$x= (-31+-sqrt(31^2 - 4(9)(16)))/(2xx9)$

$x_1= -0.63$

$x_2 = -2.81$
