Solving by substitution

Substituting equation $(2)$ in equation $(1)$
$5x−2y=3$

$5x−2 *color(blue)(2x)=3$
$5x−4x=3$
$color(blue)(x=3$

Now finding the value of $y$ by substituting $x$ in equation $1$
$5x−2y=3$

$5x−3=2y$

$y=(5x-3)/2$

$y=(15-3)/2$
