How do you solve for x in 3(x-1) = 2 (x+3)3(x1)=2(x+3)?

1 Answer

3 (x-1) = 2 (x + 3)

3.x + 3 (-1) = 2.x + 2.3

3x + (-3) = 2x +63x+(3)=2x+6

3x -3 = 2x +63x3=2x+6

for combining like terms either you can subtract 2x2x from the Left Hand Side ( LHS) or subtract 3x3x from the Right Hand Side ( RHS).

3x -3 -3x = 2x + 6 -3x3x33x=2x+63x

-3 = -x + 63=x+6

subtracting 66 from both sides;

-3 -6 = -x +6 -636=x+66

-9 = -x 9=x

x = 9 x=9
