#-15y+7y+1=3-8y#

by simplifying the left-hand side,

#=> -8y+1=3-8y#

by adding #8y#

#=>1=3#,

which is never satisfied.

Since the equation cannot be satisfied regardless of the value of #y#, the equation has no solution.
