2x2+5x3=0 is of the form ax2+bx+c=0 with a=2, b=5 and c=3.

The quadratic formula tells us that this has solutions:

x=b±b24ac2a

=5±5242(3)22

=5±25+244

=5±494

=5±74

In other words, x=12 or x=3
