The solution is

Solving by elimination.
Adding equations $1$ and $2$

$x+cancelcolor(blue)(y)=6$
$x- cancelcolor(blue)(y)=2$

$2x=8$
$color(blue)(x=4$

Finding $y$ by substituting $x$ in equation $1$

$x+y=6$
$y=6-x$
$y=6-4$
