$x=4,y=2$

Substitute the second equation into the first equation to get:

$(y+2)+y=6$

$y+2+y=6$

$2y+2=6$

$2y=4$

$y=4/2=2$

Now, plug in $y=2$ in either equations to solve for $x$ . I'll choose the latter one.

$x=2+2$

$x=4$

So, the solution to the system of equations is:
